Gynecologic cancer is any cancer that starts in the female reproductive organs. The most common gynecologic cancer is uterine cancer with about 27 cases per 100,000 women. The least common is vaginal cancer with less than one case per 100,000 women. Gynecological cancers that we routinely manage. Endometrial, cervical, vaginal and vulva cancer.
For cervical cancer treatment patients, Dr. Kuruvilla has been routinely managing them with HDR brachytherapy following chemo Irradiation. All patients are evaluated by the best gynecologic oncology doctors from either the University of Florida Gynecologic Oncologists, Shand’s in Jacksonville or Gainesville, Mayo Jacksonville, Baptist MD Anderson or our sister facility at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. Each patient’s insurance or family preferences typically dictate where they seek tertiary care surgical expertise.
